Live Event - 1/30/27 - Keeping Humans in the Driver’s Seat: Building and Using AI Assistants Responsibly in Behavioral Health Practice
Course Description
AI assistants can create significant efficiencies in behavioral health and social work practice, but their use also raises important questions related to professional judgment, privacy, bias, documentation, risk, and accountability. This advanced, practical training will guide participants through how to design and use AI assistants responsibly while maintaining appropriate human oversight and ensuring that technology supports—rather than replaces—professional decision-making.
Using behavioral health examples and real-world implementation scenarios, participants will examine where AI assistants can appropriately support workflows, where additional safeguards are required, and where professional judgment must remain firmly in the hands of the practitioner.
Learning Objectives
- Identify ethical, privacy, bias, documentation, and risk considerations associated with the use of AI assistants in behavioral health and social work practice.
- Apply practical safeguards and human-oversight strategies when designing or using AI assistants within professional workflows.
- Evaluate AI-assisted outputs and workflows to determine when AI can appropriately support practice and when professional judgment and human intervention are required.
