Course Description

This live event equips Social Workers, Counselors, and Therapists with practical strategies for supporting youth impacted by parental mental illness. Participants will explore how parental mental health challenges can affect a child’s emotional development, attachment patterns, sense of safety, caregiving roles, and family dynamics. The course emphasizes trauma-informed, developmentally responsive, and strengths-based interventions that help clinicians support resilience, improve communication, and create more stability for youth and families.

Learning Objectives
  1. Identify the emotional, behavioral, developmental, and relational impacts of parental mental illness on youth and family functioning.
  2. Apply trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate interventions to support youth affected by parental mental illness.
  3. Develop clinical strategies to strengthen resilience, safety, communication, and support systems for youth and families navigating parental mental health challenges.

Learning Method: Synchronous distance (interactive)

Amount of CE Credit Offered: 3 Live CE Credit. ASWB ACE and NBCC.

Fees: This course can be purchased individually for $79.00 or as part of an annual unlimited continuing education subscription available for $99/year.

Posttest: No posttest is required as this is a live CE event.

Certificate of Completion: A certificate will be issued at the end of the live event to all attendees who attended at least 80% of the live event.

Jaimee Arnoff

Jaimee is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience with both assessment and therapy with a focus on high-risk children and adolescents with internalizing disorders in multiple hospital-based settings, community-based outpatient mental health clinics, and residential treatment centers. With a certification in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, she has expanded her private practice to also include clients with chronic pain. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Studies and her Ph.D. from Gallaudet University, Jaimee is fluent in American Sign Language and has experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families, as well. As the psychologist at James’s Warr;ors, a local not-for-profit organization, she has developed and delivered presentations on Teen Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in high schools and colleges throughout New York. Jaimee enjoys teaching and providing clinical supervision and hopes to continue mentoring other young psychologists like herself in her community and beyond!
