Course Description: 

Explore the complexities of eating disorders in this in-depth CEU training led by a licensed therapist and a registered dietitian. This session will examine the psychological, emotional, and physiological aspects of disordered eating, including the impact of trauma, body image, and nutrition on recovery. Participants will gain practical tools for assessment, intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support clients in diverse treatment settings. Ideal for mental health professionals and dietitians seeking a deeper understanding of eating disorder treatment and recovery.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the psychological, emotional, and physiological factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of eating disorders.
  2. Demonstrate effective assessment strategies and evidence-based interventions for supporting clients with eating disorders in therapeutic and nutritional settings.
  3. Apply interdisciplinary collaboration techniques between mental health professionals and dietitians to enhance client outcomes and promote sustainable recovery.

Instructor Bio(s):

Kira Denney, MS, LCPC-S, LMHC, LPC, NCC 

Kira is the Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Pearl Wellness Practice and Clinical Director for Monte Nido Walden in Massachusetts. She is a licensed clinical supervisor and therapist serving individuals with disordered eating, eating disorders, body image, and general mental health concerns in DC, DE, MA, MD, and FL.

In addition to providing direct care, Kira provides individual and group supervision and consultations for other mental health professionals and practice, facilitates psycho-education groups, and contributes her eating disorder, leadership, and management expertise to blogs and podcasts.

Taking a person-centered and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) approach, she guides others to identify their core beliefs and behaviors and helps them develop and implement skills and techniques that best fit their lifestyle, needs, and wants for personal growth.

In Kira’s spare time, you can find her volunteering as the philanthropy chair for her alumni, mentoring psychology students, watching or playing sports, and hanging out with family.

Eden Davis, RDN, LDN

Eden is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who practices through Health At Every Size (HAES) and weight inclusivity. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, and PCOS through gentle nutrition.

Eden received her bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics prior to completing 1300 supervised hours of a dietetic internship. She previously worked at a higher level of care for clients with Eating Disorders, where she found her true passion. She works with clients through nutrition therapy, meal support, grocery shopping, and gentle nutrition.

On the weekends, she enjoys spending time with her husband, fur babies, and playing tennis. Eden understands the stress and worries that might come with an Eating Disorder. Helping clients overcome toxic diet culture and make peace with food is her ultimate goal!
