About The Live CE Event

Course Description: This 3-hour continuing education course helps mental health professionals build greater confidence and competence when facilitating therapeutic groups.

Participants will explore practical strategies for creating safety, encouraging engagement, managing conflict, and responding to challenging group dynamics. The course will also address ethical considerations, boundaries, and the clinician’s role in supporting meaningful group interaction.

Attendees will leave with concrete tools they can apply across a variety of clinical settings and group formats.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify core facilitation skills that support safety, engagement, and therapeutic effectiveness in group settings.

  2. Apply strategies for managing common group dynamics, including conflict, silence, monopolizing behaviors, and uneven participation.

  3. Demonstrate ethical decision-making related to boundaries, confidentiality, group structure, and the clinician’s role in therapeutic groups.

Instructor Bio(s):

Stephanie Clarke, LCSW

Stephanie is a Doctor of Social Work student at the University at Buffalo School of Social Work whose work focuses on implementation science, systems-level change, and translating research into practice. She is the founder of Circuit Consulting and partners with schools and organizations to support professional development, SEL, MTSS, Section 504 implementation, trauma-informed practice, and clinical programming.

Stephanie also serves as an adjunct professor at Nazareth University and brings clinical experience working with children, adolescents, families, couples, and adults using DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches. Across her consulting, teaching, clinical, and research work, she is committed to advancing equitable, sustainable outcomes for individuals, schools, and communities.
