Course Description: Join us for a dynamic 1-hour live continuing education session, designed for social workers, therapists, and mental health professionals. This course explores how peer support groups can be powerful tools for recognizing and addressing implicit biases within clinical practice. Participants will gain practical strategies for fostering accountability, self-awareness, and growth through collaborative, supportive dialogue with colleagues.
Peer support plays a powerful role in challenging implicit bias by offering diverse lived experiences, feedback on complex cases and a safe space for mental health workers to recognize and reflect on their own assumptions.
Learning Objectives:
Identify at least two ways implicit bias can influence clinical decision-making and client interactions.
Apply peer support strategies to increase self-awareness and accountability in recognizing personal biases.
Demonstrate the ability to engage in constructive dialogue within peer groups to reflect on and challenge implicit assumptions in practice.
