About The Course

Course Title: Navigating Puberty Education

Learning Method: Record asynchronous distance (non-interactive). This course includes a recorded video and access to the presented resources.

Amount of CE Credit Offered: 1 general credit. ASWB ACE and NBCC.

Fees: This course can be purchased individually for $25 or as part of an annual unlimited continuing education subscription available for $99/year.

Posttest: Following the course, the participant will take a 10 question posttest. A score of 70% correct is required to pass and obtain a certificate. If you do not pass the posttest, it can be re-taken after fully reviewing the materials again. 

Certificate of CompletionIn order to receive a certificate of completion, you must indicate that you’ve watched the entire video portion of the course, earn a passing grade on the test, and complete the requested course evaluation.

Description of the Course:

Why is understanding this topic important?

Puberty education helps young people understand and navigate the physical, emotional, and social changes they experience, reducing confusion and anxiety.

A trauma-informed, gender-inclusive approach ensures that all students feel seen, respected, and equipped with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their well-being.

Providing accurate, developmentally appropriate information early fosters body confidence, healthy peer relationships, and essential life skills that support long-term emotional and social health.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learners will identify the key components of puberty education and differentiate between puberty education and sex education to ensure clear and developmentally appropriate instruction

  2. Learners will apply trauma-informed strategies to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for discussing puberty with students

  3. Participants will integrate effective puberty education techniques into their classrooms or practice

Target Audience: 

Mental health professionals and Masters and Clinical level licensees pursuing continuing education.

Content Level:

Both beginning and intermediate-level content are included in this course.

Instructor Bio(s):

Jennalyn Suda

Jennalyn is a dedicated School Social Worker specializing in intensive behavior management within special education, particularly with upper elementary to middle school students. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Social Welfare (DSW) and brings social-emotional support and learning, organizational skills, and experience to support students with diverse needs, focusing on the intersection of trauma-informed care and restorative practices. She is currently researching social emotional strategies that special education schools can implement for students entering puberty.

In addition to her work in education, she is passionate about childhood trauma and committed to advocating for survivors of sexual assault. Her approach integrates empathy and various other skills to foster healing and resilience for students and survivors.
