Agents of Change vs. Social Work Test Prep: Courses and Practice Exams
💡 Did you know?

Agents of Change ASWB exam prep has helped 100,000+ social workers pass, with video and audio lessons, hundreds of practice questions, and live study groups. Start with 10 free practice questions.

If you’re choosing between Agents of Change and Social Work Test Prep (SWTP), first decide whether your next purchase is timed practice or a taught course. Agents of Change offers both, so you can choose the level of instruction and support you need.

For four full-length practice exams, Agents of Change’s $90 bundle costs $34 less than SWTP’s four-exam price of $124. For broader preparation, we recommend the Agents of Change course when you want video, visual, and audio lessons, twice-monthly live study groups, a personalized study plan, and mobile apps. SWTP’s five-exam option, Exam Coach review tool, and boosters are real strengths. Agents of Change combines lower practice exam pricing with a full course created by social worker and educator Dr. Meagan Mitchell.

1) Separate the Exam Comparison From the Course Comparison

What you need Agents of Change Social Work Test Prep
One fresh full-length exam Individual 122-question exam, $35 Individual 122-question exam, $39
Several timed practice exams Four-exam bundle, $90 Bundles of 2 to 5 exams, $69 to $144
A taught content review Course for your exam level with video, visual, and audio lessons Practice exams, rationales, and boosters; tutoring is a separate service
Live group questions 2 live study groups every month in every course package Not included with exam purchases
A study plan and mobile study Personalized study plan and iOS and Android apps with every course Free study guide at sign-up; iOS app

Both providers offer detailed rationales to support answer review. Agents of Change gives you the choice of standalone practice exams or a course that adds varied lesson formats, live study groups, and a personalized plan. Compare the product that matches the support you want.

2) Why Agents of Change’s Creator and Teaching Approach Matter

Agents of Change was created by Dr. Meagan Mitchell, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a Doctor of Social Work (DSW), a Master of Social Work (MSW), and a Master of Education. She teaches at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and has helped social workers prepare for the ASWB exam for more than 11 years.

That combination shapes the Agents of Change experience. Video explanations, visual materials, audio lessons, examples, and practice questions give you several ways into the same concept. You can watch a difficult topic being explained, review the visual material, and return to the audio when you want another pass.

Two live study groups each month give you the chance to engage, ask Meagan questions, and work through material with other learners. You have a recurring place to bring the concept or answer choice that still doesn’t make sense.

If you need more than another score report, Agents of Change offers a path from explanation to practice to live group questions. You can choose a standalone exam or the course that matches your needs.

3) Compare Standalone Practice Exams and Published Prices

These prices were listed on the providers’ pages on November 3, 2026. Offers can change, so use the linked pages to confirm your purchase.

Practice purchase Agents of Change Social Work Test Prep
One full-length exam $35 $39
Four full-length exams $90 (about $22.50 per exam) $124 (about $31 per exam)
Five full-length exams Not offered; four exams available $144
Largest practice package Four-exam bundle; courses sold separately $164 Complete bundle with five exams, DSM and Ethics Boosters, and an ethics ebook
Questions per exam 122, matching the new ASWB exam 122 in the August 2026 versions
Timed attempts Timed like the real exam, with a break after question 61 Three timed attempts per exam, plus unlimited untimed review
Access Until you pass 90 days, with free extensions on request

For four exams, Agents of Change costs $34 less at these listed prices, and each single exam costs $4 less. SWTP’s five-exam and Complete bundles include different quantities and extras, so they aren’t directly equivalent to four exams.

See the published Agents of Change exam prices and SWTP prices. Both providers say their full-length exams are updated for the new 122-question ASWB format. Agents of Change’s exams support the Masters and Clinical exams. SWTP says its tests use the Clinical outline and are used by candidates at every level, so confirm the fit for your own exam.

4) What Should a Useful Rationale Help You Do?

A rationale should help you explain the decision in a question. If you chose an answer that sounds compassionate but acts before assessment is complete, the explanation should help you recognize the timing problem.

SWTP’s Exam Coach, available in study and review modes, adds guidance about why tempting answers are wrong. That’s an answer-review tool, not a live coaching appointment; see the SWTP FAQs for how it works. Every Agents of Change practice exam includes a rationale for each question, and course students can bring the reasoning they’re still unsure about to a live study group.

For any resource, practice making the reasoning explicit:

  • What decision is the question asking for?
  • Which details affect that decision?
  • What did I assume that the question didn’t say?
  • Why does the strongest alternative belong later, require more information, or exceed the role?
  • How would the answer change if one important fact changed?

You can answer a question correctly and still need review. If you guessed between two choices, treat the explanation as part of the study task rather than skipping it because your score improved.

5) Use Fresh Exams to Practice Pacing

A full-length exam is a different task from a short quiz. You have to sustain attention for up to four hours, recover after a difficult item, and decide when to move on. Agents of Change’s exams are timed like the new ASWB exam, with a break after question 61, so you can practice the real test-day rhythm.

Set up the session before you start. Put away your notes, plan your timing, and note where you begin to rush or lose focus. Afterward, separate pacing problems from content mistakes. A rushed final section calls for a different fix than a consistently weak topic.

Don’t use the same exam repeatedly as though each attempt is new evidence of readiness. Familiar wording can raise your score even when your ability to reason through unfamiliar questions hasn’t changed.

If you retake an exam, use it for review. Save some unseen exams for a later check of whether your studying transfers.

6) Compare Access and Check What You Already Own

Agents of Change gives you access until you pass, for both the practice exams and the courses. SWTP lists 90 days of access with free extensions on request, and three timed attempts per exam. Plan your timed attempts and know how to request more time.

For Agents of Change customers, Practice Exam #1 is included in Premium + Power Pack. If you already have Premium, buy Exams #2 through #4 individually rather than the four-exam bundle, so you don’t pay for Exam #1 twice.

Write down the exams you own, whether you’ve seen their questions, and which you’re saving for later. That simple inventory keeps you from paying for duplicates or using up all your fresh practice too early.

7) When You Need More Than Additional Exams

An exam can show you a gap. It may not give you the teaching you need to close it.

If a rationale mentions a concept you can’t explain, go back to instruction. If you know the concept but miss a task word, work on how you read the question. If your focus drops partway through, plan longer practice sessions and recovery strategies.

Agents of Change Basics is $125 and Premium + Power Pack is $175. Both include:

  • Video, visual, and audio lessons connected to question reasoning
  • Two live study groups every month with Dr. Meagan Mitchell
  • A personalized study plan built around your exam date and weaker areas
  • The iOS and Android apps
  • Access until you pass

Premium adds 50+ hours of lessons, Practice Exam #1, case vignettes with video rationales, 30+ recorded study groups, downloadable audio, and priority support. For 24/7 help between study groups, the optional ASWB Chatbot Tutor is available with a 7-day free trial.

You don’t need to buy a full course just because you want another timed exam. But if exams keep showing the same gaps, a course is the better next step. Try the free preview with 10 practice questions and rationales to see the explanation style first.

8) Why We Recommend Agents of Change for Practice Value and Course Options

Four Full-Length Exams for Less

Four 122-question exams cost $90 at Agents of Change, compared with $124 at SWTP, a $34 difference. Single exams are $35 versus $39. If you already own Premium, buy only the exams you don’t have.

No Access Clock

Agents of Change gives you access until you pass, so you can save fresh exams for later in your study plan without watching a 90-day window.

A Course When You Want More Teaching

If you want concepts explained in different formats and a place to ask questions, choose the Agents of Change course for your level. Live study groups, a personalized study plan, and mobile apps are all included.

A Fair View of SWTP’s Strengths

SWTP offers a five-exam bundle, a Complete bundle with DSM and Ethics Boosters, three timed attempts per exam, and its Exam Coach review tool. Those are strengths for a buyer who mainly wants a large practice collection. They’re different purchases from Agents of Change’s four-exam bundle, with different prices and inclusions.

Our Recommendation

Choose Agents of Change’s standalone exams for lower prices on full-length practice. Choose the course if you want Meagan’s teaching across video, visual, and audio formats, live study groups, and a personalized plan.

9) FAQs About Agents of Change and SWTP

Does Agents of Change Premium include four full-length exams?

No. Premium includes Practice Exam #1. Exams #2 through #4 are $35 each. The four-exam bundle includes Exam #1, so if you already own Premium, buy the other exams individually.

Is SWTP’s Exam Coach the same as live tutoring?

No. SWTP describes Exam Coach as guidance available during question review. SWTP’s tutoring is a separate service, so confirm the details and price directly.

Are both providers’ exams updated for the new ASWB exam?

Both say their full-length exams use the new 122-question format. Agents of Change’s exams are also timed like the real exam, with a break after question 61.

Which exams are closest to the real ASWB test?

We haven’t independently tested both products against live exam results, so we aren’t declaring a winner. ASWB’s own practice test uses previously administered exam questions and serves a different role alongside commercial materials.

Should I keep taking exams until I get a certain score?

Look at your performance on unfamiliar questions, your reasoning, and your pacing together. No practice score guarantees a pass, and repeated exposure can make a score look stronger than your readiness on new material.

10) Choose Agents of Change Practice Exams or the Course for Your Level

Choose Agents of Change’s $90 four-exam bundle for strong practice value, or an individual exam for $35. Check for overlap with any Agents of Change course you already own.

Choose the Agents of Change course when you want teaching and live engagement as well: video, visual, and audio lessons, two live study groups a month, a personalized study plan, and mobile apps.
