Recently, the ASWB released its first-ever pass-rate analysis (see here for full details).
Among other findings, the data revealed disturbing and significant disparities between racial groups, especially for Black test takers.
For example, only 52% of Black test takers passed the exam between 2018 and 2021, compared to 91% of White test takers.
Additionally, test takers with English as a second language had a pass rate of 63% compared to 80% for test takers whose primary language was English.
These disparities are simply not acceptable.
What is Agents of Change Doing to Help?
- We aren’t accepting this disparity as something that can’t be changed.
- We are encouraging our clients to speak up and supporting them when they do.
- We will continue to produce as much free study material as possible through our YouTube channel, Podcast, Blog, and release as many free questions as possible.
- We will expand access to our materials through the annual Agents of Change Scholarship, which is open for applications each Winter.
We look forward to a day when the ASWB exam is significantly more equitable and we will do our part to help raise awareness to ensure a path to licensure is attainable for all candidates.
